Group’s History

In August 2009 the group a group of Medical Doctors and Engineers who were studying at the El Cajon library met spontaneously outside the library to share their progress with preparing for the state exams.

Many great information were shared and it was the first time for many of them to speak together although they study all day at the same library.

The group decided to network again and invite new people to share with and learn from.

Dr.  Fadi Ballo and Eng. Mohammed Tuama were assigned to set the meeting location and call or email more people.

In October 15, 2009, the group met at the East County Career Center.

73 people attended from different educational and academic backgrounds.

The meeting started with networking then stating general hardships the foreign newcomers face.

Some attendees with past or current experiences shared many resources and advices.

The group asked to invite the East County Career Center staff to speak about their services and the training available.

The group decided to meet once every 3 Months, but continue meet in a smaller groups at the El Cajon Library.

The group voted to nominate Mohammed Tuama as the Coordinator to do the following:

• Promote the group and invite more newcomers with foreign degrees.
• Create sign in sheet including the academic level and the university.
• Create an email list for the group to share more resources.
• Set communicate with the group’s members to set the meeting agendas.
• Represent the group and invite the entities suggested by the the group.
